Ammonium nitrate (AN), with the chemical formula NH4NO3, is a chemical fertilizer used to nitrate soil for agriculture.
This substance has good solubility in water. The raw materials for the production of this fertilizer are readily available ammonia and concentrated nitric acid.
Ammonium nitrate is one of the commonly used nitrogen fertilizers in agriculture due to its high nitrogen content and easy access to nitrogen by the plant.
The advantage of this fertilizer over other nitrogen fertilizers is that it is released gradually and continuously in the soil and can eventually be used by beneficial soil microorganisms.
